Massive, massive thank-you to everyone who has supported and sponsored both me and Adam, we've each exceeded the minimum fundraising target required, all in support of Parkinson's UK. You've all made it worthwhile!! #passmethesoothingcream #soreposteriors-R-us!! Arrived at Park Monsieur where we regroup, about 4 miles from Champs élysées and Eiffel Tower for final ride in as a group. Exhilarating ride for last 15-20 miles coming in to Paris suburbs and busy traffic - what a rush!! Shorter day, approx 62 miles, and we'll have made it into Paris!! Apologies to all of you who we're hoping for a Garmin Livetrack link: it appears Garmin's servers are not working with the livetrack function - didn't work on day 1 in UK so it's isn't a roaming/data problem. Weather superb again day 3. Quick pace to first stop, up at the Thiepval Mormorial, Stopped a few miles further to take-in the panoramic views over the Somme. Called into a cafe on outskirts of tonight's stop, had a couple of beers which after the heat of the day, most refreshing!! Well, day 2 all started to plan: Paco the Mule set off with his two new associates (who had quickly earned a reputation for being the pace-setters), out of Calais bound for Arras, at a blistering speed. Indeed, amost beating the support crew to the first water-stop. By lunch the lightening trio had refuelled and bounded off, as most if us were recovering in the sun. Alas, Paco didn't keep with our cunning plan of burning-out the others, ready for me to "mysteriously" blitz the finish from out of nowhere. No, Paco had blown up before the last water-stop, and trundled-along with my group. all those months going through the plan, stocking with te plan, up in a whiff of Anusol aroma.... First water stop 20 miles out from Arras at the Thiepval war memoral to the 72,000 missing of the Somme. Massive thank you for all the donations that have come-in over the last couple of days, especially on Adams just-giving page, he's only got £50 to his min target. Massive thank-you to Vickie for posting it all over twit-face yesterday - brought in a good number of donations, to close up the gap x Arrived at lunch stop, day 1. Enjoyed the morning so far, Adam is doing great, loving it. |
